Resident Evil Village Gold Edition includes Village, Winters’ Expansion and the Trauma Pack. Winters’ Expansion supplies Shadows of Rose, Third Person Mode and The Mercenaries Additional Orders. If you already own Village, use the ownership table to see which pack you need.

Gold vs Standard vs the original Deluxe Edition

Gold adds Winters’ Expansion to the base game and Trauma Pack supplied by the original Deluxe edition. The US PlayStation listing identifies these three paid components; VR Mode is a separate free download, also available with Standard.

Main game and paid packs: current US PlayStation Gold contents and the original Deluxe package
Package Village main game Paid content included
Standard Yes Neither pack
Original Deluxe Yes Trauma Pack
Gold Yes Trauma Pack and Winters’ Expansion
Winters’ Expansion alone No The expansion only; requires Village

These package names describe content, not a guarantee that every older edition remains on sale. Preorder rewards and platform-specific extras can sit outside this basic comparison.

Does Gold include every DLC item?

No. The Extra Content Shop All Access Voucher is not listed among the core Gold components. Platform-specific bonuses also vary, so compare the exact offer before buying.

Already own Village? Buy around what is missing

What to buy according to the Village content you already own
You own For Rose or Third Person Mode To match Gold’s core contents
Standard Winters’ Expansion Winters’ Expansion + Trauma Pack
Original Deluxe Winters’ Expansion Winters’ Expansion
Village + Winters’ Expansion Nothing more Trauma Pack
Village + both packs Nothing more Nothing more

You can skip the Trauma Pack if you only want Rose’s story or Third Person Mode. Compare the price of the missing content with Gold; the expansion alone requires the base game.

Be careful with a store offer named “Gold Edition Bundle”: some include both RE7 Gold and Village Gold. That is a two-game bundle, not a different Village expansion; the RE7 Gold contents are separate.

Match DLC to your platform and account region. For a used physical copy, confirm whether any required voucher is included and unused.

The three parts of Winters’ Expansion

Winters’ Expansion contains three additions. Only Shadows of Rose is a new story campaign; the other two change or expand modes in Village.

Shadows of Rose

This is additional story content centered on Rose Winters, presented in third person. It is included through Winters’ Expansion—not through the Trauma Pack. It is an add-on to Village rather than a separate full game.

Third Person Mode

This adds a third-person option to Village’s main campaign. It is a different viewpoint for that campaign, not another story chapter, and it does not replace the first-person option.

The Mercenaries Additional Orders

This expands The Mercenaries mode with additional content, including Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg and Lady Dimitrescu as playable characters. It is distinct from Shadows of Rose.

What does the Trauma Pack add?

The Trauma Pack focuses on items, presentation options and supporting material. Its inventory is:

  • Samurai Edge – AW Model-01 weapon
  • Resident Evil 7 Found Footage Filter
  • Resident Evil 7 Tape Recorder Save Point
  • Saferoom music: “Go Tell Aunt Rhody”
  • Mr. Everywhere Weapon Charm
  • Early access to Village of Shadows difficulty
  • The Tragedy of Ethan Winters artwork
  • The Baker Incident Report

Village of Shadows is an early difficulty unlock, not an exclusive story campaign. You can unlock that difficulty through the game without buying the Trauma Pack.

What is different in the Switch 2 Gold Edition?

Nintendo Australia’s Switch 2 product page lists the game, Winters’ Expansion and Trauma Pack, plus Street Wolf Outfit, Mr. Raccoon Weapon Charm and Survival Resources Pack. That version was released on February 27, 2026.

Extras named in two specific regional listings
Content US PlayStation Gold Nintendo Australia Switch 2 Gold
Main game, Winters’ Expansion and Trauma Pack Included Included
Street Wolf, Mr. Raccoon and Survival Resources Not named in the core Gold inventory Explicitly included

These bonuses apply to the listed Switch 2 package. The original Switch cloud release is a separate product.

Does Gold make Winters’ Expansion playable in VR?

No. Village VR Mode is a separate free download for the PS5 game and requires PlayStation VR2 and its Sense controllers. Its supported content is not identical to everything bundled with Gold.

The VR Mode product notes explicitly exclude Winters’ Expansion, The Mercenaries and the Extra Content Shop All Access Voucher. Some item DLC is only partly supported. Gold therefore includes content you can use outside VR, but does not turn Shadows of Rose into a VR expansion.

Why do older pages mention Re:Verse?

Re:Verse was a separate multiplayer title promoted with Village and Gold. Its service ended in June 2025, so it is no longer a playable bonus to factor into a purchase. The end-of-service notice reproduced by Gematsu explains the withdrawal and shutdown.

A Re:Verse logo on an old box does not affect access to Village’s main game or Winters’ Expansion.
