Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition includes the base game, both Banned Footage volumes and End of Zoe. Not a Hero is free to RE7 owners, including Standard owners. Gold and the Season Pass cover the same core paid add-ons, but the Season Pass does not include the base game.

What is included in Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition?

Buying a bundle and having every add-on installed are different things. Use this list to check the contents, then check your game library for any separate downloads.

Core RE7 Gold contents and the free Not a Hero add-on
Component What it contains How it is supplied
Main game Resident Evil 7 biohazard Part of Gold
Banned Footage Vol. 1 Nightmare, Bedroom and Ethan Must Die Part of Gold and Season Pass
Banned Footage Vol. 2 21, Daughters and Jack’s 55th Birthday Part of Gold and Season Pass
End of Zoe Story add-on Part of Gold and Season Pass
Not a Hero Story add-on Free download for RE7 owners

The US PlayStation Gold listing confirms this package. The free Not a Hero download is not a reason to replace a Standard copy with Gold.

Gold vs Standard vs the Season Pass

Choose a package without buying the same RE7 content twice
What you have What you want What to check
No RE7 game Game and core paid DLC Gold Edition
Standard All core paid DLC Season Pass
Standard Only Not a Hero The free Not a Hero download
Base game + some DLC A specific missing add-on That add-on or its Banned Footage volume
Base game + Season Pass, or Deluxe Gold’s core paid content No further Gold purchase needed

Compare current prices on your platform. PlayStation’s Deluxe package already covers Gold’s core paid add-ons; Gold does not supply a further campaign to those owners.

What is in the two Banned Footage packs?

Banned Footage Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 contain different sets of three extras. Neither volume includes End of Zoe or replaces the other.

Banned Footage Vol. 1

  • Nightmare: a survival scenario built around lasting through the night.
  • Bedroom: an escape-room scenario.
  • Ethan Must Die: an additional challenge mode separate from the tapes.

Banned Footage Vol. 2

  • 21: a deadly card-game scenario.
  • Daughters: a story scenario about the Baker family before the main game’s events.
  • Jack’s 55th Birthday: a separate timed food-collecting mode.

This is why searching for “21 DLC” can lead to a pack rather than a product with that name: 21 belongs to Vol. 2. You do not need a separate purchase for it after obtaining that volume through Gold.

Do Not a Hero and End of Zoe cost extra?

Not a Hero is the free download; End of Zoe is the paid story add-on already covered by Gold or the Season Pass. If you own only the Banned Footage volumes, you still need End of Zoe separately.

Finish the main campaign before either story add-on. Then play Not a Hero followed by End of Zoe for a straightforward follow-up route without seeing their reveals early.

What does the Switch 2 Gold Edition add?

The Nintendo UK Switch 2 listing, released February 27, 2026, names the main game, both Banned Footage volumes, Not a Hero, End of Zoe and the Survival Pack.

Its Survival Pack contains six Supply Boxes, five Coins and an instant Madhouse difficulty unlock. Those are the extras named by this particular regional listing, not a universal inventory for every older physical or digital Gold package.

Madhouse is not an additional paid-only campaign. Nintendo’s description says the same difficulty can be unlocked by completing RE7 on another difficulty; the included item provides earlier access.

PS5 upgrades and VR are separate questions

A platform upgrade does not add missing Gold DLC

The US PlayStation listing offers an eligible PS4 owner the PS5 digital version at no extra cost. A PS4 disc owner must use the disc to download and play that upgrade on a PS5 with a disc drive. This is an upgrade of the game version you own, not a reason to assume Standard receives the paid Gold packs.

Does RE7 Gold support PSVR2?

No: the PS5 Gold edition does not provide a PSVR2 version. RE7’s VR support is for the PS4 version with the original PlayStation VR. PlayStation’s headset compatibility support explains that PSVR2 does not play original PSVR content. A PS5 game upgrade does not convert that VR mode into PSVR2 support.

There are also content-level exceptions within RE7: Ethan Must Die and Jack’s 55th Birthday do not support PSVR, as stated in Capcom’s Banned Footage announcement. An edition containing both modes does not change their VR support.

What to check before buying another package

For physical copies, check the exact edition’s disc, download and voucher details. A used copy may be missing an unused code; DLC must also match your platform and account region.

Finally, a bundle pairing RE7 Gold with Village Gold Edition contains two different games. Village’s Winters’ Expansion is not an RE7 add-on, and RE7’s Season Pass does not unlock it.
