Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition includes the 2023 remake, Separate Ways and the Extra DLC Pack. Deluxe includes the Extra DLC Pack but not Separate Ways; Standard includes neither paid pack. Already own the remake? Check what you actually need to add before buying Gold.

What is included in Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition?

This is the 2023 remake, not the original 2005 game. For its place in the series, see the Resident Evil game order.

The US PlayStation Gold listing supplies the three components in the comparison below, with digital access to both the PS4 and PS5 versions.

Separate Ways adds Ada’s story and requires the 2023 remake. It is a separate purchase from the Extra DLC Pack; Gold supplies both.

Standard vs Deluxe vs Gold

Core edition contents, excluding separate promotions and retailer bonuses
Edition Base game Paid packs included
Standard Resident Evil 4 remake Neither pack
Deluxe Resident Evil 4 remake Extra DLC Pack
Gold Resident Evil 4 remake Extra DLC Pack and Separate Ways

Deluxe was the enhanced launch package; Separate Ways arrived later. The table compares content, even where a storefront no longer sells all three editions.

Already own Resident Evil 4?

For Ada’s story, you need Separate Ways. The Extra DLC Pack adds equipment and presentation options, so you can leave it out if those do not interest you.

What to check if you want Gold’s core contents
You already own Component still to check What a full Gold purchase repeats
Standard only Separate Ways and Extra DLC Pack The base game
Deluxe Separate Ways The game and Extra DLC Pack
Base game and Separate Ways Extra DLC Pack The game and Separate Ways
Both packs and the base game No missing core component All three components

Compare the current price of the missing packs with Gold on your platform. A Gold bundle repeats any components you already own.

What is in the Extra DLC Pack?

The Extra DLC Pack listing contains nine entries:

  • Leon and Ashley’s Casual costumes
  • Leon and Ashley’s Romantic costumes
  • Leon’s Hero costume and filter
  • Leon’s Villain costume and filter
  • Sporty sunglasses for Leon
  • The Sentinel Nine deluxe weapon
  • The Skull Shaker deluxe weapon
  • The Original Ver. soundtrack swap
  • Treasure Map: Expansion

These extras change equipment or presentation; they do not add a campaign.

Buying Gold does not make all Extra DLC usable in Separate Ways. Capcom flags the Hero and Villain costume/filter sets, Sentinel Nine, Skull Shaker, soundtrack swap and expanded treasure map as incompatible or only partly compatible with Ada’s story. The linked pack description does not specify a separate compatibility result for each item; treat these as main-campaign bonuses when deciding whether to buy the pack.

Does Gold include all paid DLC?

No. Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Tickets are not part of its three-component bundle or the nine-item Extra DLC Pack. The Attaché Case: Gold, Attaché Case: Classic, Handgun Ammo charm and Green Herb charm are also outside that core inventory.

The case names are particularly easy to misread: a gold-colored attaché case is an item, not proof that it comes with Gold Edition. Capcom’s original edition announcement described cases and charms as preorder rewards. A promotion may add items to a particular offer, but those rewards should not be assumed from the edition name alone.

What about The Mercenaries and VR Mode?

The Mercenaries is a free add-on, available with the base remake. You do not need Gold to access it.

The free Resident Evil 4 VR Mode is for the PS5 remake and requires PS VR2 with PS VR2 Sense controllers. It covers the main campaign only: Separate Ways and The Mercenaries are not supported. The Hero and Villain filters from the Extra DLC Pack are also unavailable in VR. Buying Gold does not remove these limits.

Platform and physical-copy checks

The digital entitlement described above is for the US PlayStation product. It does not give you a Steam or Xbox license. Match any separate add-on to the game version and storefront you use, and install the latest game update before starting Separate Ways or using the Extra DLC Pack.

For a physical copy, check the exact box for disc content, downloads and vouchers. If buying used, confirm any required DLC code is unused and valid for your account’s region.
