Castlevania Anniversary Collection includes eight games and the digital Book of the Crescent Moon. The games are Castlevania, Simon’s Quest, Dracula’s Curse, Super Castlevania IV, The Adventure, Belmont’s Revenge, Bloodlines and Famicom Kid Dracula. Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood are not included.

All eight games in Anniversary Collection

The collection groups early console and handheld releases. The platform column below identifies the original game, not the hardware needed to run the modern collection.

Castlevania Anniversary Collection’s complete game list
Included game Original version Name to watch for
Castlevania NES The original Simon Belmont game; not the Nintendo 64 title with the same name.
Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest NES The NES sequel. Different from the Game Boy game titled Castlevania II.
Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse NES Trevor Belmont’s game.
Super Castlevania IV Super NES The SNES Simon Belmont title.
Castlevania: The Adventure Game Boy Christopher Belmont’s first handheld game.
Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge Game Boy The sequel to The Adventure; not Simon’s Quest.
Castlevania: Bloodlines Sega Genesis / Mega Drive The 16-bit game featuring John Morris.
Kid Dracula Famicom The 1990 Japanese game, included here in an official English version.

Kid Dracula is the Famicom/NES game, not the Game Boy game. The digital book and extra regional ROMs do not add new sequels to the eight-game count.

Looking for Symphony of the Night or Rondo of Blood? Choose Requiem on PS4, not Anniversary. For the GBA and DS games, jump to the other-collections table.

Platforms and physical editions

The collection launched on May 16, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC through Steam. Konami’s current product page also lists the Epic Games Store version.

Physical releases exist even though the original announcements called the launch digital-only. Limited Run’s PS4 Classic Edition, for example, includes the collection on disc plus a soundtrack CD, poster, and themed packaging. The listing also identifies PS5 compatibility for that PS4 disc; that does not make it a separate native PS5 release.

Physical collector extras are separate from the digital book. For a second-hand copy, check which boxed items are actually included.

Regional versions and the bonus book

The English release received Japanese versions of selected games as an update. These are alternative ROMs, not extra sequels. One useful exception: Konami’s Japanese lineup specifically lists Simon’s Quest as the North American version with English in-game text. Do not assume that switching to the Japanese lineup supplies a Japanese ROM of every title.

The included digital book is History of Castlevania: Book of the Crescent Moon. It brings together box art, interviews, development designs, and background material. You do not need to buy a collector’s physical edition to get the collection’s digital book.

Install the update offered for your platform to access the added regional versions.

What Anniversary Collection does not include

Looking for Symphony, Rondo, or a GBA/DS game? Use the collection in the right-hand column instead of buying Anniversary for that title.

Other games readers often expect to find here
Wanted game or group Where it is collected
Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night Castlevania Requiem — PlayStation 4
Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, and Dracula X Castlevania Advance Collection
Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia Castlevania Dominus Collection
Haunted Castle and Haunted Castle Revisited Castlevania Dominus Collection includes both versions.

There are two particularly similar names to avoid: Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection is a separate Konami compilation that includes Haunted Castle, while Castlevania Anniversary Collection is the eight-game package listed above. Neither name means that Advance or Dominus is included with a standalone purchase.

Where should you start within the collection?

Start with Castlevania (1986) for the earliest release in this package. For a short connected pair, follow Castlevania → Simon’s Quest or The Adventure → Belmont’s Revenge. You do not have to finish all eight games in the menu’s order.

The Castlevania release list and story timeline provides the wider sequence, including the games in other collections. Release years and the fictional dates of the Belmonts’ adventures are two different orders.
