Watch Persona 5 the Animation episodes 1–26 → Dark Sun… → Stars and Ours. The two TV specials continue the main anime story, so episode 26 is not your stopping point. Keep The Day Breakers, Proof of Justice and A Magical Valentine’s Day in a separate extras list.

The Persona 5 main-story order

Episode 26 is not the ending. Select the two continuation specials below by name, even if your catalog places them outside the TV episode list.

The three entries that make up this main-story route
Order What to watch What to look for
1 Persona 5 the Animation, episodes 1–26 The TV series that began in 2018.
2 Dark Sun… The first continuation special, broadcast in 2018.
3 Stars and Ours The concluding continuation special, broadcast in 2019.

Look for the specials by title if your service lists only 26 numbered episodes. Their separate catalog entries are easy to miss.

When should you watch The Day Breakers?

Persona 5 the Animation -The Day Breakers- is a separate 2016 special. It predates the 2018 TV series, but it is not that series’ first episode.

For the easiest first-time route, start with TV episode 1 and return to The Day Breakers after Stars and Ours. This is our recommendation for keeping the main adaptation together; it is not an official requirement or an exact placement on the story’s calendar.

For release order instead, watch the 2016 special first, then begin the 2018 TV series at episode 1.

The official Day Breakers release page lists its Japanese Blu-ray/DVD release on December 7, 2016. It also names The Night Breakers as a bonus drama CD. That similarly named item is an audio extra, not another anime episode to add to this order.

Proof of Justice and A Magical Valentine’s Day

For an uncomplicated extras route, finish Stars and Ours, then watch Proof of Justice and A Magical Valentine’s Day. This keeps the two main continuation specials together and follows the bonus OVAs’ Japanese disc release order.

The two unaired bonus stories
Extra Original Japanese disc Viewing note
Proof of Justice Volume 11 — May 29, 2019, paired with Dark Sun… Watch after Dark Sun… at the earliest; the route here saves it until after the main conclusion.
A Magical Valentine’s Day Volume 12 — June 26, 2019, paired with Stars and Ours A Valentine’s Day omnibus to watch with the extras after the main story.

Proof of Justice revisits events involving a character from the continuation specials. Avoid its synopsis until you reach that part of the story.

A Magical Valentine’s Day presents multiple scenarios, not a single required romance path for the main anime.

The dates in this table are Japanese disc dates, not the specials’ original broadcast dates. Buying a volume that pairs a special with an OVA does not turn the OVA into a required continuation episode.

Specials, episode numbers and Persona 5 Royal

Before choosing a complete edition, confirm that it contains Dark Sun… and Stars and Ours, not just the 26 TV episodes. Check the three optional extras separately if you want those too.

This is an order for the anime adaptation of Persona 5. It is not a watch order for every Persona anime, and it does not require you to begin with the Persona 3 films or Persona 4 series.

The TV series and continuation specials adapt the original Persona 5 story. They do not cover Royal’s added semester, which Atlus describes as new content in Royal. To follow that additional storyline, choose the game; the Persona game guide distinguishes Royal from other versions and spin-offs.
