Baki Watch Order: Grappler Baki, Baki Hanma and Baki-Dou
Follow Grappler Baki, BAKI, Baki Hanma and Baki-Dou in order. Find the next series or episode after your last Netflix season without restarting.
Start with the 2001 Grappler Baki TV anime, including its Maximum Tournament run, then continue with BAKI, Baki Hanma and BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai. The older anime comes before the Netflix-era series; it is not a different name for the 2018 BAKI.
If you are following the Netflix titles specifically, the sequence is BAKI → Baki Hanma → BAKI-DOU. Within each title, follow its parts in order. Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura is a crossover film, not another numbered season in that sequence.
The Baki anime watch order
The main thing to watch for is a change of title. Baki Hanma starts at “Season 1” in its own listing, but it continues the earlier anime. Follow the named series below and you will not accidentally restart in the middle of Baki’s story.
| Step | Title or run | What to finish | Continue with |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Grappler Baki / Baki the Grappler (2001) | First run: 24 episodes → Maximum Tournament: 24 episodes (48 total) | BAKI |
| 2 | BAKI: Most Evil Death Row Convicts | The 26-episode run | Great Raitai Tournament |
| 3 | BAKI: Great Raitai Tournament Saga | The 13-episode run | Baki Hanma |
| 4 | Baki Hanma | Season 1: 12 episodes → Season 2: 27 episodes (39 total) | BAKI-DOU |
| 5 | BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai | Part 1: episodes 1–13 → Part 2: episodes 14–25 (25 total) | Keep the crossover film separate |
The first row includes Maximum Tournament. Do not jump from the opening part of the 2001 anime straight to the newer BAKI simply because a catalogue puts the tournament run on another page.
Rows 2 and 3 together cover the BAKI title. Complete both sagas before opening the separate Baki Hanma series.
The Netflix Baki order and season labels explained
For Netflix’s continuation, select BAKI Parts 1 → 2 → 3, then Baki Hanma Seasons 1 → 2, then BAKI-DOU Parts 1 → 2. The BAKI catalogue groups that title into three parts: the first two cover the death-row-convict run, and the third is the Great Raitai Tournament Saga. Those three parts together contain 39 episodes; they are not three additional series.
Use this table when resuming after a season or saga. Open the next title’s own listing when the series name changes:
| You finished | Next step | What to select |
|---|---|---|
| BAKI: Death Row Convicts | Great Raitai Tournament | The next saga under BAKI |
| BAKI: Great Raitai Tournament | Baki Hanma | Season 1, episode 1 |
| Both Baki Hanma seasons | BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai | Part 1, episode 1 |
| Dou episode 13, Practical Fighter | Dou Part 2 | Episode 14, then continue through 25 |
Season numbers restart inside a title. “Season 1” on Baki Hanma therefore does not mean the beginning of the whole franchise. Similarly, BAKI-DOU Part 2 should not be relabelled “Baki Hanma Season 3.”
Baki Hanma has a 12-episode first season and a 27-episode second season. The official episode catalogue uses continuous numbering: Episodes 1–12 form the first run, followed by Episodes 13–39. If your service restarts at “Season 2, Episode 1,” that corresponds to Episode 13 in this catalogue. Finish all 27 Season 2 episodes before Dou.
When switching services, match the full series title, saga and last episode watched, not an informal label such as ‘Baki Season 3.’
Where does Grappler Baki belong?
Grappler Baki, also encountered as Baki the Grappler, is the 2001 TV anime at the start of this route. Its Maximum Tournament run belongs with that older series, before the death-row-convict story in BAKI.
This is not just a difference in English naming. TMS’s announcement of the newer adaptation explicitly connects it to the Grappler Baki anime made in 2001. The 2018 production adapts BAKI, the next part of the manga series, rather than remaking the earlier TV run.
If the older show is split across separate listings, look for Maximum Tournament as well as the first 24 episodes. Together they make the 48-episode 2001 run. For discs, also check the region and available language tracks.
What should you watch after Baki Hanma?
After all 39 Baki Hanma episodes, watch BAKI-DOU Part 1, then Part 2. The Kengan crossover is optional and does not bridge those two series as a required chapter.
Netflix’s Dou episode guide identifies 13 episodes in Part 1 and 12 in Part 2: episodes 1–13, then 14–25. If you finished Practical Fighter, episode 13, continue with Part 2.
Check your local Netflix catalogue for the available parts and language tracks. The part labels determine viewing order; Japanese TV dates describe a separate broadcast schedule.
The Dou trailer contains scenes and characters from after Baki Hanma. Skip the trailer until you reach that point if you want to avoid those reveals.

Official trailer: contains story scenes. Skip it if you prefer to avoid spoilers.

Where does Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura fit?
Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura is a 2024 crossover feature, separate from the numbered seasons.
Watch the crossover after Baki Hanma if you want a side trip before Dou, or save it for later. This is an optional viewing placement, not an official chronological position.
Common Baki viewing questions
Why does Dou have different 2026 release dates?
Its Netflix parts launched on February 26 and June 18, 2026. The official broadcast schedule separately lists the first part’s Japanese TV run from July 5. That later broadcast date does not change the order: Part 1, then Part 2.
Can I start with the Netflix anime?
Yes, if you want to start with the later production, but expect established rivalries and returning characters. BAKI is a continuation, not a remake that introduces everyone again. The 2001 series gives you the earlier context; starting on Netflix is a shortcut, not the full beginning.
What about the 1994 Grappler Baki OVA?
The 1994 Grappler Baki OVA is a separate animation release that predates the 2001 television anime. It is not another Netflix season or a different name for the 2001 series. You can explore it as an extra, while the TV-and-streaming route above still starts with Grappler Baki (2001).
