Arifureta Watch Order: Seasons, OVAs and Specials Explained

For Arifureta’s main TV story, watch Season 1 → Season 2 → Season 3: 41 episodes in total. The specials and OVA are optional additions. For the expanded route, add the Season 1 specials after that season, then Detour and both parts of the 2022 OVA after Season 2.

The confusing part is the bonus material, not the seasons themselves. If a service shows 13 entries for Season 2, the last one may be Detour: an extra, not another regular TV episode. You can finish the three seasons first and return to the bonuses later.

The main Arifureta watch order

Start with Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest, the unnumbered first season.

Keep each season in episode order. The placements below are a convenient way to watch the extras without stopping mid-season; they are not a scene-by-scene chronology.

What should you watch after Arifureta Season 2?

For the main route, go straight to Season 3, episode 1. For the expanded route, watch Detour → The Miraculous Meeting and the Phantasmagorical Adventure Parts 1–2, then start Season 3.

Season 3 began its Japanese broadcast on October 14, 2024, with a 16-episode run confirmed in the official season announcement.

Buying the September 2024 Japanese “complete” box? It includes Seasons 1 and 2 and their bonuses, not Season 3. That is worth checking before paying for a set you expect to cover all 41 TV episodes.

Where the Arifureta specials and OVAs fit

Add these extras after their associated seasons for a route that keeps the TV episodes together:

English names for the first two specials can vary. If a listing is unclear, compare it with the Japanese titles in the official Blu-ray contents. This also separates the three unaired episodes from the longer 2022 OVA.

The complete box also lists a first-season compilation. It is an optional recap, not a new story chapter after episode 13.

Why Arifureta Season 2 may show 13 episodes

The second season has 12 TV episodes. ARIFURETA: From a Detour to the World’s Strongest is listed separately as an unaired episode in the Japanese release, but Crunchyroll identifies it as Episode 13 under Season 2.

If your list has 13 Season 2 entries and the last one is Detour, you have found the regular season plus its bonus. Season 3 starts again at Episode 1.

The 2022 OVA is one release with two streaming parts

The Miraculous Meeting and the Phantasmagorical Adventure is the English streaming title to look for. Its Japanese title is 幻の冒険と奇跡の邂逅. The original Japanese OVA was released with the special edition of novel Volume 13 on September 25, 2022.

On streaming, it can appear as:

1. The Miraculous Meeting and the Phantasmagorical Adventure Part 1
2. The Miraculous Meeting and the Phantasmagorical Adventure Part 2

Keep the two OVA parts together. Detour is a different extra: watch it first, then both OVA parts, then Season 3.

A disc may present both OVA parts as one complete program. Match the title before counting it as another release.

Other Arifureta viewing questions

How many Arifureta seasons and episodes are there?

The released TV route covered here has three seasons: 13 + 12 + 16 = 41 regular episodes. Specials, the recap and the two streaming parts of the OVA are counted separately. A bonus labelled “Episode 13” under Season 2 does not change that TV total.

Do I need to watch the specials before starting the anime?

No. Begin with Season 1, episode 1, then add the extras at the checkpoints above.

What if my service does not show the extras?

Check whether the service has a separate specials section, another season tab or the full English OVA title. Before buying a disc, compare its contents with the specific extra you want. Availability and language options can differ by country and edition, so a listing for the TV series alone should not be taken as a promise that every bonus is included.
