Watch the Kingsman movies in release order the first time: The Secret Service (2015) → The Golden Circle (2017) → The King’s Man (2021). There are three released feature films, but only the first two follow Eggsy’s modern-day story. The third is a historical prequel.

If you prefer chronological order, move The King’s Man to the front. That puts the agency’s beginnings before Eggsy’s recruitment. For a newcomer, though, The Secret Service is the better introduction to the modern team.

Kingsman movies in release order

The three released Kingsman films
Order Movie Where it fits
1 Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) Eggsy’s introduction to the modern spy organisation
2 Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) The direct follow-up to Eggsy’s first adventure
3 The King’s Man (2021) The agency’s origins around the First World War

The Secret Service: the best starting point

Eggsy enters a world he does not yet understand, so the film introduces the training, gadgets and etiquette along with him. That makes it an easy way into Kingsman’s mix of tailored suits, outrageous violence and spy-movie comedy.

Start here if the image in your head is Colin Firth mentoring Taron Egerton. The prequel shares the organisation’s name, not that central relationship.

The Golden Circle: what to watch next

Go directly to The Golden Circle after The Secret Service. It builds on the first film’s characters and expands the story through the American Statesman organisation. Starting with it means encountering returning relationships before seeing how they developed.

The King’s Man: a different era and cast

The King’s Man moves to the organisation’s beginnings, with Ralph Fiennes leading a largely different cast. The studio synopsis identifies it as an origin story. Expect wartime intrigue and family drama alongside the franchise’s stylised action, rather than Eggsy’s next assignment.

Kingsman movies in chronological order

  1. The King’s Man (2021): the agency’s beginnings during the First World War.
  2. Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015): Eggsy joins the modern organisation.
  3. Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017): Eggsy’s next adventure brings in the American Statesman team.

Follow the films’ main stories in this order; there is no need to rearrange scenes or flashbacks.

Can you watch The King’s Man first, or on its own?

Yes. Its historical cast and origin story make it a separate entry point. You do not need to finish the Eggsy films to follow it. If its First World War setting is what interests you, start there; if you want the modern spy adventures, begin with The Secret Service.

Already started? Here is the next film

  • Finished The Secret Service: watch The Golden Circle next.
  • Finished both Eggsy films: try The King’s Man for the earlier history, not a continuation of their ending.
  • Started with The King’s Man: move to The Secret Service, then The Golden Circle. There is no need to restart.

Is The King’s Man the same as Kingsman 3?

It is the third released franchise film, but not the third film in Eggsy’s story. That distinction explains why searches for “Kingsman 3” can lead to both a film you can watch and reports about a different proposed project.

As of September 2026, the released feature list remains the three movies above. Reports about another sequel or a Statesman spin-off are not an extra chapter you need to find before continuing.

Are comics, shorts or credit scenes required?

The films provide their own introduction; reading the source comics is optional. Promotional crossover shorts are extras, not a missing movie between The Secret Service and The Golden Circle.

Stay through The King’s Man’s credits for its extra scene. It is worth seeing before you move on, but you can leave explanations until afterward to avoid spoilers.

When finding a copy, use the full title and year. The King’s Man (2021) and Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) are different movies, not alternate names for the same one. Streaming subscriptions vary by country, but the viewing order above applies equally to discs and rentals.
