Movies & TV / Blade
Blade Movies in Order: Start with the Wesley Snipes Trilogy
Watch Blade, Blade II and Blade: Trinity in release order, then find where the 2006 live-action series and 2011 Marvel anime fit as optional next choices.
Watch the Blade movies in this order: Blade (1998), Blade II (2002), then Blade: Trinity (2004). These are the three films in the Wesley Snipes trilogy. You do not need to insert a television episode, an anime series or another Marvel film between them.
For the core trilogy, stop after Trinity. The 2006 live-action show and 2011 anime are optional TV adaptations. Snipes also appears in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), but that is a crossover appearance—not a fourth standalone Blade movie.
The three Blade movies in order
The films follow one another in release order. Use the years below to distinguish them from later home-video editions.
| Step | Film | Year | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Blade | 1998 | Start here |
| 2 | Blade II | 2002 | Watch after Blade |
| 3 | Blade: Trinity | 2004 | Finish the trilogy |
The original introduces Snipes as the half-human, half-vampire hunter at the center of the films. Blade II brings him into conflict with the Reapers, a different vampire threat. Trinity is the final entry in this three-film run: Warner Bros.’ film page identifies it as the trilogy’s concluding chapter.
How many Blade movies are there?
There are three released standalone Wesley Snipes Blade films: Blade, Blade II and Blade: Trinity. A trilogy collection should include those three titles. TV episodes and guest appearances are separate from that count.
Where does Deadpool & Wolverine fit?
If you want Snipes’ later screen appearance too, add Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) after the trilogy. His return as Blade is confirmed in his interview with Entertainment Weekly. It belongs to Deadpool’s multiverse adventure, so treat it as an optional next film rather than Blade 4. You do not need it to finish the original trilogy.
Is the new Marvel Studios Blade part of this order?
No released Marvel Studios reboot belongs in this viewing list as of September 19, 2026. Marvel’s film catalogue lists Blade without a release date. An announced project is not a film you can watch between the existing entries, and old projected dates should not be treated as actual releases.
Where the TV series and anime fit
Finished Trinity and want more? Choose the live-action show or the anime below and start its own episode sequence. Neither needs to be inserted into the film trilogy.
| Title | Year | Format | How to approach it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blade: The Series | 2006 | Live-action television | An additional choice after the trilogy |
| Marvel Anime: Blade | 2011 | Animated television | Start its own episode sequence |
Blade: The Series
The 2006 show stars Sticky Fingaz as Blade, rather than Wesley Snipes. For someone following the franchise by release, it comes after Trinity. That makes it a straightforward next choice if you want more live-action Blade, without interrupting the three-film run.
Begin with the pilot. If your service follows Apple TV’s split listing, watch Pilot, Pt. 1 and Pt. 2, then Death Goes On.
Marvel Anime: Blade
This is the animated series identified by Sony Pictures Japan as a 2011 production, with animation by Madhouse. It follows Blade to Japan and gives you a different adaptation to explore once you are looking beyond the live-action films.
The anime dates to 2011; Sony’s Japanese Blu-ray/DVD box followed in 2012. Those dates identify the show and its later home-video edition.

How to choose the right Blade listing
The quickest way to avoid a wrong rental is to check the year and format:
- Title and year: the original film is Blade (1998), not the 2006 television show or the 2011 anime.
- Format: a page with a season selector and episode list is not one of the three theatrical films.
- Cast: Wesley Snipes identifies the film trilogy; Sticky Fingaz identifies the live-action TV adaptation.
- Package contents: if you want all three films, confirm that the listing names Blade, Blade II and Blade: Trinity.
Quick questions before you watch
Is chronological order different from release order?
For the three Snipes films, use the same sequence: Blade → Blade II → Blade: Trinity. There is no prequel film you need to move ahead of the 1998 original.
Should I watch Blade: The Series before Trinity?
No. Use Blade → Blade II → Trinity first, then the 2006 show’s pilot if you want the TV route.
Do I need Marvel comics or another Marvel series first?
No. Begin with Blade (1998); the trilogy introduces its own version of the character.
